2) Donate Online! Got a credit or debit card? Pledge to us on our Kickstarter page! It's super easy way to give with hardly any hassle. Keep in mind, however, that 5-8% of your donation will be deducted to pay for the credit card fee and Kickstarter's collection fee.
Why We Need Help!
This semester, we embarked on a mission to record a new CD, following up Fall 2009's successful Acapocalypse, which featured songs originally by The Smashing Pumpkins, Sufjan Stevens, Evanescence, The Format, and others. The problem with Acapocalypse was that it took so long to produce because we didn't have any money. We fundraise during the year, but it's not nearly enough money to pay for all that goes into recording, mixing and mastering a really high-quality CD. We wound up getting a loan, and now that the loan's finally paid off, we're starting essentially from scratch, with less than $200 in our collective aca-pocket. We want to be able to release a new CD featuring the current group. The new disc will feature songs by Paramore, Guster, The Hush Sound, The Noisettes, Coldplay, and more.
The money will be applied toward the mixing & mastering portion of the CD-making process, as well as the physical production of the discs and packaging. It will also pay for the licensesthat we'll need to acquire in order to legally sell our sick beats.
IC VoiceStream is unique not only because of the anatomical diversity of our membership, but also because of our diversity in areas of study. We're comprised primarily of non-music majors (although we do have 3 excellent music majors!), which is a testament to our commitment and passion for producing music. For the most part, we're doing this extra-curricularly; it's not furthering our careers. This is just something that we love to do. And we'd love for you to help us make what we love more accessible to other people. A cappella music really is at its best and most rewarding when listened to on a professional-caliber recording.
